Change Is Here At Last!
by Mandi on January 25th, 2012
No, we didn’t buy a house.
However, Simply Sweet Life is moving to a new place!
There is a whole fresh new look with some changes that will hopefully make it easy to navigate around.
All the old blog posts and pictures are coming too!!
This is all part of that Change I was telling you was coming. Well, Change is here.
Here is the big news and all the juicy details!!
I have started a website called Proverbs for Life. This is a site meant to help equip and encourage Moms (and Dads) as they work to instill wisdom in their children. It uses the book of Proverbs as its guide. I am really excited about this new venture and hope you will join me there! www.proverbsforlife.com
Simply Sweet Life will still be around if you are interested in following the silly, zany, sweet tidbits of wackiness that goes on in the Parkhurst house! You can now find Simply Sweet Life at www.mysimplysweetlife.wordpress.com You can click the link to go straight there, or you can type it into the web browser, just make sure you note the change of address or you’ll end up at someone else’s house!!
Getting Braces
by Mandi on January 20th, 2012
Precious A and I got to spend all morning together yesterday.
It wasn’t particularly fun for her…she got braces.
She was a fantastic sport about the whole thing and let me take pictures of the whole (not at all flattering) process!!
I promised her I would only use a before and after picture publicly, the rest were just for me.
She was such a trooper. After two hours in the chair she was still smiling.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love this girl and how grateful I am that I get to be here mom? She is becoming quite a magnificent young woman and I love getting to spend time with her, even if it is just getting braces.
She is a gift.
One I treasure with all my heart.
As a side note, I am taking an online photography class called SnapShopby Ashley Ann to help me learn how to use my camera to capture life as it happens. If you have a DSLR camera and are stuck on automatic shooting, I highly recommend it.
Doing it by Himself
by Mandi on January 18th, 2012
He has grown up so fast.
It amazes me how soon he was saying he could do things himself.
He has only once put his shoes on the wrong feet. He knew by the feel of them that something was not right, and now, it never happens. He loves the accomplishment of doing things without any help.
Last night he asked if he could make himself dinner, by himself. I said sure.
He’s four.
He’s gotten so big.
Someday we won’t need me to take the lids off the jars, and then, he really will be doing it all by himself.
Thankfully, he is still so very little!!
Building Forts
by Mandi on January 17th, 2012
My kids love to build forts.
Forts drive me crazy.
They are the opposite of orderly and neat and they take just about every pillow and blanket in the house to properly make. At least my kids firmly believe they require every blanket and pillow.
But my kids love them. So I endure them. Princess L, our future engineer, designed and built this one by herself, well, with the help of the other two small fries. The smallest of the fries did more destroying than building I think, but they all had a blast.
Forts create a world of mess.
They worth the mess.
At least the small fries are getting old enough to help fold the blankets when they are done playing!!
Two is Easier Than Three
by Mandi on January 13th, 2012
It is quiet. Completely still except for the sound my fingers striking the keyboard.
It is not often quiet in this house with four kiddos and a very large dog.
Today, two of those kiddos are missing.
Princess L is on a special weekend trip with her daddy.
Precious A is still at school.
The boys are sleeping.
The house is mine!!
Two is much easier than three. I had forgotten what it was like to only have two to run errands with, feed, and play with. We had a great morning. I enjoyed my two.
So here is my big news…I am starting a new business/blog. I am not going to reveal the name until it is all finished, which will hopefully be in the next two weeks (still waiting on one more thing!!).
Simply Sweet Life is purely my place to vent, think, and share, not a business. My new venture will be something I hope that every mom or dad can use to make their daily routines a little more intentional. I’ll explain all the details soon…I promise!!
